Personal update
I’ll be giving a Biopunk intro to genetic engineering crash course this Tuesday in front of a small but mighty group of uni classmates. I wanted to go beyond the basic GFP example, so I chose to reverse-engineer Neuralink’s patent to learn a bit about optogenetics, and well, discuss that Black Mirror episode from the new season!
Nobody asked for this but I pitched it to my former profs for several reasons: 1) it feels great pay forward what I’ve learned in places like Stanford and Imperial; 2) I’ve found that writing only half-fulfills me, I’m searching for my Ikigai thingie and think genetic engineering is really fun so I want to figure out what to do about it; 3) this could be a way to meet other folks interested in building new life.
I’m nervous but trust it’ll turn out great for at least a few of us in the room. The Notion’s almost ready, I’ll be recording the tutorials this weekend to share with y’all soon, I’m making Biopunk pressos and lots more… who would’ve thought my episode in Spanish with Guillermo Herrera-Arcos — who graduated from my same campus and university, is now a PhD student at the MIT media lab and did an internship at Neuralink — would turn out super handy here. Life is fun!
Thanks for the round up Sofia.
About the format, I feel like I enjoy the full post in one page over that one.
On the Internet, the more I need to click to access an information, the less I am likely to process it.
Have a great day !
